The Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority (MTA) has donated a retired cutaway bus to the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank, Inc. (MGCFB) to aid in their mission of food distribution to people in our community struggling to make ends meet.

According to MTA CEO Craig Ross, “It is our pleasure to help the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank extend their reach. We transport people, but MTA is happy to partner with the MGCFB, enabling them to transport essential food items to families in need. Our joint venture and finalization of the bus transfer couldn’t have come at a better time given the financial instability of so many local families during the unprecedented worldwide pandemic.”

In response to the bus donation, Jeff Battcher, MGCFB board chair says, “The ability to transport food is always a major logistical issue for the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank. The gracious donation of a retired bus from the Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority fleet will allow us to distribute more food to those in need.”
