December 4 was a special day for the MTA, particularly frontline staff, meaning bus operators and the dispatch supervisors who haven’t missed a beat since the start of the pandemic. MTA CEO Craig Ross met with small groups of front liners to thank them for their sterling service and present them with hazard pay for their diligence and professionalism these past nine months.

Craig told the various groups of staff members assembled, “You were heroes from the word go. While other authorities around the country have experienced driver loss and death, to date, MTA has not had a single COVID case among our bus operators or supervisors which is a remarkable achievement.
