Reduced Fare Information

The reduced fare program, as called for under the Federal Transit Administration Guidelines, offers reduced bus fares to persons with qualifying disabilities and to Medicare Card holders.

Qualifying disabilities are determined based on the Americans with Disabilities Guidelines. Mental disabilities qualify only if they prevent an individual from operating an automobile.

To qualify for the reduced fare, an individual must show their MTA Reduced Fare Photo ID.

To be issued an MTA Reduced Fare Photo ID you must present EITHER:

  • An MTA Reduced Fare Eligibility Certificate, which has been completed in full by a physician (Click here for the form.)

OR:

  • A valid Medicare card, along with valid photo ID

Once you have the required documents listed above, please hand deliver them to the Macon Transit Authority at 200 Cherry Street (Terminal Station), Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Note: Seniors (62+) do not need an MTA Reduced Fare photo ID in order to obtain a reduced fare, but may show a drivers license or picture ID when purchasing a fare.

If you have questions or require additional assistance, please call 478/803-2500 between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
